VinFast Snags Two Asean NCAP Five-Star Safety Ratings

The name VinFast may not be as well-known as the other automotive giants like Toyota and Mitsubishi.

Still, this Vietnamese company has recently been making waves by earning not just one--but two--five-star ratings from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

“We are proud that VinFast, a new and the first local vehicle manufacturer in Vietnam, has made the initiative to have their cars assessed by ASEAN NCAP,” said MIROS director-general and ASEAN NCAP chairperson Dr. Siti Zaharah Ishak.

“Although this is their first time going through the assessment, we are pleased that VinFast has ensured their newly manufactured cars meet ASEAN NCAP requirement in order to make the cars safer on the road.

About VinFast

Taken from Wikipedia

This is an auspicious start for VinFast. It's a very young company, and was started two years ago by Vingroup, one of the largest private enterprises in Vietnam.

VinFast is an abbreviation of Vietnamese words: Vi?t Nam (Vietnam), Phong cách (Stylish, Ph=F), An toàn (Safety), Sáng t?o (Creativeness), and Tiên phong (Pioneer).  They are manufactured at a modern 335-hectare plant complex in Cat Hai, Hai Phong, in northern Vietnam.

VinFast is the first Vietnamese manufacturer to attend a major international car show. Last October, it unveiled its first two models, the the LUX A2.0 sedan and the LUX SA2.0 SUV at the Paris Motor Show, and received international acclaim.
