There is no doubt on the immense amount of popularity that the Corolla nameplate has enjoyed in all these years, thus helping Toyota to become a household name as what it is today. Till now, the Corolla nameplate was reserved only for hatchbacks and sedans, however, in 2020, Toyota extended the family by bringing in the Corolla Cross.
Based on the same GA-C platform as the latest generation E210 series Corolla hatchback and sedan, the Corolla Cross has a completely different and raised visual appeal of a heightened crossover, which gives it an aspirational value of an SUV. Under the skin, the Toyota Corolla Cross shares its mechanicals with the Corolla sedan, but on the outside, it is one completely different looking crossover meant for the urban car buyers.

While the overall design language of the Toyota Corolla Cross is completely new and very different from the current crop of Toyota SUVs and crossovers available in the Philippines right now, it shares its overall mechanicals with the Corolla sedan which was already available in the country.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is being offered in two different variants – G CVT and V HV. While the G CVT variant is powered by a 1.8-litre four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the standard Corolla sedan, which is mated to a CVT gearbox and pumps out 140 PS of maximum power and 172 Nm of peak torque output. On the other hand, the V HV variant comes with a hybrid powertrain, which is a combination of a 1.8-litre four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor (98 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque) and an electric motor (72 PS of power and 122 Nm of torque). In this variant too, the CVT gearbox is offered as standard.
Being one of the latest offerings, the Toyota Corolla Cross has been equipped with a host of contemporary features, with the more premium V HV variant having things like bi-beam LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and tail lamps, leather upholstery, 8-way powered driver seat, 7-inch TFT instrument console, multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry with push button start, dual zone automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and electric sunroof.
