10-year driver’s license to be rolled out starting tomorrow
Motorists who have not been caught violating traffic rules and regulations may start applying for a 10-year valid driver’s license as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will start processing it tomorrow.
In an announcement made on the agency website, the LTO announced that by October 28, the LTO Central Office-Licensing Section will start processing the 10-year valid licenses to be followed by satellite offices within the National Capital Region on November 3.
Those who have a traffic violation record are only eligible to apply for a driver's license that is good for five years.
Aside from that, the LTO noted that everyone who will be renewing their license must undergo the comprehensive driver’s education (CDE) to receive a CDE certificate. This will be free of charge.
Applicants may get the CDE via the LTO Portal (portal.lto.gov.ph), through LTO offices and LTO-accredited driver schools.
Further, LTO advised those outside Metro Manila to wait for related announcements.
