ADVISORY: NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section now open

NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section2 (1)

The NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) Connector España to Magsaysay Section has already been opened to the public since October 28, NLEX Corporation announced.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When was the NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section opened?

The portion was opened on October 28, 2023.
  • How much is the toll fee for the NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section?

The toll fee for the said portion remains at P86 until further notice.
  • Per the toll operator, the aforementioned portion was opened last Saturday (as early as 12:01 a.m.) in anticipation of the expected traffic for the Undas and barangay elections. The said update, NLEX Corporation added, is part of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation’s (MPTC) “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program.

"To alleviate the expected increase in traffic volume, we immediately decided to open the NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section. This should help improve the travel experience of motorists as this new section will make travel from Metro Manila to the North and vice versa, faster, and more convenient, especially this Undas,” NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi Bautista was quoted as saying.

According to the tollway company, it will retain the current discounted rate of P86 for the NLEX Connector until further notice.

The opening of the 1.80-kilometer, four-lane NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section — which provides an alternative route to motorists in all vehicle classes — is eyed to ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila, especially in major thoroughfares such as Epifanio delos Santos Avenue and C5.

Apart from cutting the travel time from C3 in Caloocan to Magsaysay Boulevard in Manila to just eight minutes, it is seen to alleviate the traffic condition in Nagtahan, G. Araneta, Aurora Blvd, Lacson, Magsaysay and España Boulevard. It will also help improve accessibility of motorists travelling from Manila, San Juan, and other nearby cities as they can enter the NLEX Connector Magsaysay Interchange on-ramp and head straight to the north via NLEX.

With the opening of the España to Magsaysay Section, the NLEX Connector now has three interchanges located in C3 Road/5th Avenue in Caloocan, España and Magsaysay Boulevard in Manila.
