As the Feast of the Black Nazarene draws near, the Manila City government announced that road closures will be implemented at specific portions of the city from January 6 until January 9.

    Through its Facebook page, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said that it will conduct the road closures starting 10 p.m. of January 6 up to January 9 on the stretch of Independence Road, Katigbak Drive, and South Drive as well as on the north and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to South Drive.

    Beginning 7 p.m. of January 7 until January 9, the following roads will be closed to traffic as well:

    • Quezon Boulevard northbound and southbound portion (from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Quezon Bridge, straight to Padre Burgos Park 'n Ride)
    • España Boulevard westbound and eastbound (from P. Campa to A. Mendoza)
    • Stretch of Evangelista Street (from Plaza San Juan to Recto Avenue)
    • Stretch of Raon Street (G. Puyat) (from Evangelista to Quezon Boulevard)
    • Stretch of P. Paterno Street (from Quezon Boulevard to Evangelista)
    • Stretch of Carriedo Street (from Rizal Avenue to Plaza San Juan)
    • Stretch of C. Palanca Street (from McArthur Bridge to Quiapo Ilalim/Quinta Market straight to P. Casal)
    • Stretch of Bustos St. (from Plaza Sta. Cruz to Rizal Avenue)
    • Northbound lane of Rizal Avenue (from Carriedo to Recto Avenue)
    • Northbound lane of McArthur Bridge
    • East and westbound lane of Recto Avenue (from Rizal Avenue to Nicanor Reyes Street)
    • Stretch of Nicanor Reyes St. (from España Boulevard to Recto Avenue)

    With that, the Manila City government is urging the public to take alternative routes.
