Aion poised to compete in PH EV arena soon

Aion is expected to be launched in the Philippines soon following sightings of its units being offloaded recently in Metro Manila.

Based on the photos shared to Carmudi Philippines, truckload of what is perceived to be Aion Y examples were in Makati during the long weekend.

While the company who will be responsible for bringing the brand to the country has yet to make an official announcement, here are some details about the electrified crossover in markets abroad.

The Aion Y is 4,535 millimeters (mm) long; 1,870 mm wide; and 1,650 mm tall with a 2,750-mm wheelbase that is expected to give its occupants a roomy interior as well as a ample road presence.

It features angel wing headlamps, high beltline, boxy wheel wells, and interlinked slim taillights that accentuate its overall chiseled look.

The Aion Y’s cabin is equipped with a 32-color ambient lighting, dual digital screens (10.25-inch cluster gauge and 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system), seats that can fully folded down (which can act double beds if needed), and panoramic sunroof.

Powering the vehicle is an electric mill that has the capacity to provide as much as 134 horses and 225 Newton-meters of torque. Giving the vehicle a range of 490 kilometers (based on New European Driving Cycle standards) is its 63.2 kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery.

Additionally, the Aion Y is tailored with various safety and convenience technologies such as anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, energy-recovering braking system, auto-hold, traction control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and 360-degree high-definition camera system.

In other markets, the vehicle is retailed in the following colors: Lucky Gold, Vitality Green, Speedy Silver, Liberty Ash, Elegant Gray, Pure White, and Glamour Black.

The Aion brand is under Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC). In the Philippines, GAC’s distributorship is managed by Astara.
