Aston Martin reported that it achieved carbon-neutral manufacturing in its St. Athan facility, taking it a step further to becoming a world-leading sustainable ultra-luxury business.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much carbon dioxide emissions does Aston Martin’s St. Athan facility save by using LED lights?

According to Aston Martin, its St Athan factory is now saving over 24,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions annually, thanks to the use of LED lights.
  • What other “green” initiative has Aston Martin planned for its St. Athan site?

The carmaker said that it plans to install thousands of solar panels to the DBX sport utility vehicle manufacturing plant in St. Athan.
  • Contributing to the aforementioned accomplishment is the successful installation of LED lighting at the factory, saving over 24,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Additionally, the British carmaker revealed plans of introducing thousands of solar panels to the DBX sport utility vehicle manufacturing plant in St. Athan, which will be capable of generating around 20 percent of the plant’s total annual demand.

This achievement falls in line with the brand’s Racing. Green. sustainability strategy, a corporate program designed to help Aston Martin focus on tackling climate change, creating a better environment, and building a stronger, more diverse company.

“Our Racing. Green. sustainability strategy is helping to shape our transformation as we take action to turn aspirations into reality, making sustainability central to everything we do. In some areas, we will need to do more to accelerate progress, but by continuing to intensify our focus on delivery, including achieving certified carbon-neutral manufacturing, we will achieve our ambition to become a world-leading sustainable ultra-luxury automotive business,” said Aston Martin Lagonda Chief Executive Officer Amedeo Felisa.

As part of Aston Martin’s Racing. Green. strategy, the marque is working with Climate Impact Partners — specialists in carbon market solutions for climate action — to finance projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions while supporting the transition to a low-carbon global economy.

Further, Aston Martin revealed that it is supporting a wind power portfolio project in Turkey, which has seen more than 120 wind turbines installed, generating approximately 575,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity every year to a nation heavily reliant on natural gas and oil, with infrastructure severely damaged by recent devastating earthquakes.
