Year-to-date (YTD) sales of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) for the full seven months of 2022 has increased by more than 18 percent.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many vehicles did the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. and Truck Manufacturers Association sell in the full seven months of 2022?

Based on the consolidated report, the two groups sold 182,687 units during the January-July 2022 period.
  • What companies form part of CAMPI-TMA's top five for January-July 2022?

The CAMPI-TMA's top five automotive distributors for January to July 2022 are Toyota Motor Philippines, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, Nissan Philippines, Suzuki Philippines, and Ford Philippines.
  • Based on the groups' consolidated report, their members have collectively sold 182,687 units during the January-July 2022 period in contrast to the 154,265 vehicles delivered for the same timeline last year.

Continuously leading the sales rally is the commercial vehicle segment, after rolling out 137,388 examples to buyers — reflecting a 31.1-percent difference over the groups’ 104,757-vehicle output for the seven-month duration in 2021.

The steady overall growth buffered the slowdown of passenger car sales, which only had 45,349 examples retailed, which is an 8.4-percent decline in comparison to the 49,508 cars sold in January to July of the year.

Last month, CAMPI-TMA sales of 27,813 units were 29.4 percent when compared to 21,498 vehicles purchased in July 2021. However, the same data showed that it is lower by 2.8 percent against the 28,601 vehicles delivered to clients in June 2022.

CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez attributed July 2022's vehicle volume to the “higher demand for new motor vehicles brings a high degree of confidence for continued recovery of the auto industry.”

“This mirrors the improvement on the consumer outlook for big-ticket items based on the government report,” he noted.

“The improvement in the availability of jobs and employment, business recovery and containment of the pandemic are important drivers for the overall economic recovery in this post pandemic normalcy – similarly true for the industry’s recovery as well,” Gutierrez added.

The top five automotive distributors are the following: Toyota Motor Philippines (94,026 units), Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (25,761), Nissan Philippines (12,893), Suzuki Philippines (11,413) and Ford Philippines (10,753).
