Denso, NRI Enter Joint Venture to Establish New In-Car Cybersecurity Company

Since almost all automakers are leaning towards digitalization and connected cars, Denso Corporation and NRI SecureTechnologies, Ltd. decided to join forces to establish a new cybersecurity company. The company intends to detect and diagnose the security risk of in-vehicle electronics products. The new company is called NDIAS, which is equally owned by Denso and NRI, and it will be officially established in December 2018.

The head office of NDIAS will initially be in Tokyo and the company's president will be Yukinori Hashimoto. NDIAS is said to make use of Denso's expertise in in-vehicle quality and cybersecurity technology development while NRI's machine learning technology will be used to protect consumers against cyber attacks. In addition, the partnership is seen to offer integrated security diagnosis and consulting services for in-vehicle electronic products.

The teaming up of the said companies will also look into how it can develop new tech that can go hand-in-hand with the rapidly evolving digitalized automotive industry. With its cybersecurity technologies, NDIAS wants to achieve a safe and secure future of connected cars.
