The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is eyeing to have the complete detailed engineering design (DED) of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge by the starting quarter of 2023.

When completed, the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge will be 32 kilometers long.
  • What will be the travel time from Bataan to Cavite on the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge?

The travel time from Bataan to Cavite using the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge will be 20-30 minutes.

The DED contract was awarded to the joint venture of TY Lin International and the Republic of Korea’s Pyunghwa Engineering Consultants, working with Switzerland-based Renardet and the Philippines’ DCCD Engineering Corporation.

Sadain said that apart from being a new avenue to address the traffic congestion in Metro Manila, the 32-kilometer-long project will also provide expansion and economic growth opportunities outside of the National Capital Region.

When completed, the four-lane Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge Project — set to cross over the Manila Bay — will reduce travel time from five hours to just 20-30 minutes.

The funding of the project, implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Roads Management Cluster II (Multilateral), is from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The project also covers the construction of two cable-stayed navigation bridges on either side of historic Corregidor Island.

The alignment in Bataan will begin between the Roman Highway and will traverse Barangay Alas-Asin, and then skirts the shoreline of Barangay Mountain View in Mariveles. In Cavite, the alignment will start at the shoreline of Barangay Timalan Balsahan in Naic, passing through the agricultural and residential area and ending at Antero Soriano Highway.
