Some vehicles rely on whatever unique feature they have in order to stand out, while some let their badges do the talking.
The Isuzu mu-X is a combination of those two cases. It's a dependable family SUV, something expected from a brand with a portfolio of reliable commercial vehicles and trucks. It also features creature comforts and safety equipment.
Among the features that make the Isuzu mu-X dependable is its running gear. A pair of diesel engines are available in the mu-X: a 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC with 148hp and 350Nm, and a more powerful 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX that makes 175hp and 380Nm. The engines can be paired to a six-speed manual or automatic.

The entry-level, rear-wheel drive mu-X is recognizable with its black grille, lower front bumper, door handles, and side view mirrors. The LS is underpinned by silver 17-inch wheels as well.
Inside, this mu-X's manually adjustable driver's seat does without height adjustment, which is also covered in fabric like the rest of the six seats.
An eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, Wi-Fi, and USB provides infotainment for the rest of the mu-X range.
Adding an "-A" to this trim name also brings 18-inch diamond-cut wheels and chrome exterior details. On the mu-X LS-A's roof sit a pair of roof rails.
Inside, the perches are now wrapped in leather, and swaths of shiny black trim grace the door panels.
The range-toppers of the mu-X range wear the same exterior details as the RZ4E LS-A, but as its name already suggests, the LS-A 4x4 can drive all four of the 18-inch wheels.
Aside from the four-wheel drive, added safety comes courtesy of the brake assist (BA), brake override system (BOS), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS), hill start assist (HSA), and hill descent control (HDC). The cabin highlight of this mu-X trim is the 10-inch roof-mounted DVD monitor, which would entertain kids during long trips. An automatic climate control system ensures temperatures are always comfortable in-cabin.
