The National President of the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP), Zenaida Maranan passed away in her sleep last Saturday, July 11. She was 75.

‘Ka Zeny’ as she was fondly called, served the interest of the public transport sector in Congress as the former 1UTAK partylist representative from 2012 to 2013.

She was also instrumental in ensuring public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers received their ‘ayuda’ and other benefits during the Metro-wide enhanced community quarantine that left many in the sector unable to earn a living.

In a Facebook post, the Land Transport Office (LTO) expressed its sympathies for the FEJODAP head’s passing.

“Ka Zeny was a passionate transport advocate who has served as a prominent voice speaking for the benefit of the ordinary public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers,” LTO’s Facebook post said.

“As an Agency in the public transportation sector, we deeply recognize the milestones that we have concurred with the help of our dialogues and consultations with you. You are truly one of the biggest pillars of the transportation sector, Ka Zeny.”

“Your legacy will forever be remembered.”

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chair Martin Delgra III also extended his condolences in a Facebook message:

“Rest in Peace, Ka Zeny.”

Maranan is the widow of noted transport leader Romy Maranan. She took over the position of National President of FEJODAP from her husband after his death in 2001.
