As if the Fiesta Van’s impressive fuel consumption numbers weren’t frugal enough, Ford has introduced a mild-hybrid option to the lineup, designed to deliver optimized fuel efficiency without reducing load volume or payload.
The EcoBoost Hybrid model that the Blue Oval is adding to the Fiesta Van selection features a 48-volt electrified powertrain technology that delivers to customers a more fuel efficient and responsive alternative to diesel.
Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost Hybrid powertrain is good for 123 hp with the fuel efficiency enhanced using up to 24 Nm of electric torque and performance enhanced using up to 50 Nm of electric torque at low rpm. With these performance numbers, Fiesta owners can enjoy the reliable performance of gas-powered cars minus the pollution and fuel consumption that comes with them.
Joining the Transit, Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom options of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Fiesta Van EcoBoost Hybrid is also designed to allow fleet owners continued access to locations that restrict or ban the entry of diesel vehicles along with Ford’s other commercial vehicles, according to the brand.
“The new Fiesta Van EcoBoost Hybrid is Ford’s latest step towards offering high-value electrified options across its van range,” said Hans Schep, general manager of Commercial Vehicles for Ford of Europe. “Advanced, proven mild hybrid technology provides owners with a compact vehicle that’s responsive to drive and cost-effective to operate.”
Other new additions to the new Fiesta Van include advanced connectivity systems such as a SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 8-inch gesture-capable touchscreen, and an onboard FordPass Connect modem technology3 for turning the car into a mobile WiFi hotspot.
The new Fiesta Van also comes with Ford’s latest driver assistance technologies including Pre-Collision Assist with Active Braking, Cross Traffic Alert with Active Braking and Ford’s Lane-Keeping System.
The Ford Fiesta Van EcoBoost Hybrid goes on sale in the UK beginning in August. As part of Ford’s commercial vehicle lineup, a range of Special Vehicle Options (SVO) custom paint finishes and exterior packs can be ordered to best suit the unique requirements of a purchasing business.
We used to have the Fiesta model sold here, but Ford quietly dropped it from their local lineup in the middle of 2019.
