Carmaker's engineers calibrated 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine to deliver more power, torque
Owners of the Ford Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor in the United States (US) can now enjoy improved power and torque thanks to an update brought by the American car brand.
Per Ford Motor Company, its engineers have calibrated the software of the 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine of the abovementioned models, allowing the Dearborn-based company’s pickup truck and sport utility vehicle to deliver more horsepower (hp) and torque.
The Ford Ranger Raptor now boasts improved figures at 455 horses — previously 405 hp — and 726 Newton-meters (Nm) from 584 Nm.
Similar runners can be produced by the Ford Bronco Raptor (455 hp and 726 Nm), which previously offered 418 hp and 455 Nm.
“The upgrades are available for 2024 Ranger Raptor and 2022-2024 Bronco Raptors and allow for improved throttle response and an optimized shift schedule, resulting in a more powerful driving experience,” Ford said in a press release.
According to the Blue Oval brand, owners of the Ford Ranger Raptor and the Bronco Raptor in the US can purchase the update online and have it installed at a local dealer.
The said improvements — Ford pointed out — meet the brand’s durability standards and are covered by the vehicle’s three-year, 36,000-mile (57,936 kilometers) Ford Performance parts warranty.
Carmudi Philippines is yet to receive an official statement from Ford Motor Philippines about releasing a similar update for local Ranger Raptor and Bronco (Raptor variant still not available in the country) owners.
To note, the Ford Ranger Raptor here comes with a 2.0-liter Turbo Diesel engine that makes 207 hp with 500 Nm. Likewise, the Philippine market Bronco is equipped with a 2.7-liter, V-6 EcoBoost engine that dishes out some 330 hp with 555 Nm of torque.
Compared to their US-market counterparts, the versions of the truck and sport utility vehicle in the Philippines use engines with smaller displacements, hence, expecting a similar offer could be a long shot.
However, if Ford’s local arm can make it happen, the said upgrade will become a welcome option — especially for off-road enthusiasts — as the Ranger Raptor and Bronco are touted in the country as performance-oriented models.
