MANILA: Ford Philippines has expanded its “territory” (quite literally and figuratively) by adding the new Platinum variant to the Territory Hybrid lineup.
Days after Carmudi Philippines sister platform, Zigwheels Philippines, reported that the local wing of the Blue Oval brand might launch a new grade level for its best-selling hybrid small utility vehicle, the marque’s subsidiary in the Philippines surprised its fans and customers with the most opulent iteration of the nameplate.

Leveraging on its popularity and appeal to Filipino customers, we are introducing the Territory Hybrid Platinum,” Ford Philippines Retail Product Marketing and Business Growth Director Byron Daquil was quoted as saying.
“With the Territory Hybrid Platinum, we are bringing a new level of driving sophistication for customers seeking the space, comfort and safety of a family SUV combined with the refinement of a luxury vehicle,” he added.
Car buyers interested in finding out how the “Platinum” moniker translates to the Ford Territory Hybrid, here is a quick look at what they can get for P1.655 million (introductory price).

Outside, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum looks a tad more posh than its brothers.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaIt packs a new two-tone bumper, while the hood gets “PLATINUM” lettering, so would-be owners will no longer have to source bonnet garnishes from aftermarket brands. These, along with the LED daytime running lights that span the full width of the fascia, create a bold visual impression and accentuate the vehicle’s girth.
The side profile of the electrified five-seater is highlighted by black side mirrors, roof, roof rack, and sharkfin antenna. Atop is a two-panel panoramic sunroof, which lets in natural light when needed.

At the back, the new Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum offers buyers a power tailgate with an integrated spoiler and the unmistakable “PLATINUM” badging. Rounding up the latest features found on the nameplate is a gloss black rear bumper garnish.
The Platinum variant really elevated the overall cabin atmosphere of the Ford Territory Hybrid.
Found here are front seats with “PLATINUM” stitching as well as scuff plates with illuminated “PLATINUM” script. The seats also have stitched quilting, with those sitting at the front getting ventilation.

Tech-wise, it is endowed with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and voice recognition. For audio, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum gets a 10-speaker Arkamys Soundstage audio system with a 320-watt amplifier and a nine-band equalizer.

Per Ford Philippines, the small utility vehicle comes standard with three scents (Whispers of Dawn, Velvet Ember, and Verdant Rush), with three more (Amber Veil, Azure Oud, and Soul Velocity) available for purchase through dealers.
Retained for the Platinum variant is the Ford Territory Hybrid’s 1.5-liter hybrid system mated to a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and a 1.83-kilowatt lithium-ion high-voltage battery.

Braking power comes from ventilated discs at the fore and solid discs at the back. When it comes to suspension, it uses a MacPherson strut at the front and multi-link independent shock absorbers at the rear.
Aside from the existing safety features found on the lower variants, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum benefits from the added traffic jam assist and integrated cruise assist.
Per Ford Philippines, traffic jam assist works by managing speed and keeping the vehicle centered in its lane, reducing the need for continuous driver inputs and allowing the driver to focus on the surrounding traffic.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaOn the other hand, integrated cruise assist manages acceleration and braking while making continuous small steering adjustments to keep the vehicle centered in its lane, making longer journeys more comfortable.
As mentioned earlier, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum is offered at an introductory price of P1.655 million.
Packaged with the vehicle is a five-year warranty and a free two-year scheduled service plan.
