From racetrack to road: Lamborghini Huracán STO now available here

Lamborghini Philiipines has announced the arrival of the street-legal version of the Huracán that is a mainstay contender on the track.

The Huracán STO, now available locally, is said to carry the motorsport DNA of the Squadra Corse’s Huracán Super Trofeo EVO racecar, as well as that of the Huracán GT3 EVO (that won the 24 Hours of Daytona three times, and the 12 Hours of Sebring twice).

Equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine matched to a seven-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission, the new Lamborghini Huracán STO (Super Trofeo Omologato) can reach a break-neck speed of 310kph. This powertrain matching — which can provide a maximum of 640hp and 565Nm — allows the car to reach zero to 100kph in three seconds and 200kph in nine seconds flat.

The vehicle provides three new driving modes: STO, Trofeo, and Pioggia. The default STO mode is for road driving in which every aspect of the Lamborghini Veicolo Dinamica Integrata (LDVI) vehicle dynamics system suits all conditions. “In Trofeo mode, LDVI assures maximum performance on dry asphalt through dedicated torque vectoring and performance traction control settings. Pioggia (rain) mode optimizes traction control, torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering and the ABS on wet asphalt to minimize loss of grip,” Lamborghini Philippines shared.

This road-homologated, rear-wheel drive super sports car ensures a direct pedal-to-throttle response and a sharper sound at high revs.

Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali described the Philippines’ latest offering as “the purest incarnation of Lamborghini Squadra Corse heritage, directly transferring technologies from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and drawing on the Huracán GT3 EVO’s unique accomplishment of winning three consecutive times in the Daytona 24 hours.”

The new Lamborghini Huracán STO has its hood, fenders, and front bumper in one single component called “cofango,” combining the Italian words “cofano” (hood) and “parafango” (fender). This also has a new front splitter that directs airflow to the newly designed underbody of the car and to the rear diffuser.

Aside from that, it also sports a rear fender design derived from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, a prominent shark fin that further stabilizes vehicle when cornering and a manually adjustable rear wing, helping it adapt to different racetracks, driving styles, and conditions.

Further, 75 percent of its exterior panels are made from carbon fiber, and are made as single pieces to make them stiffer and lighter. It also has magnesium rims. All in all, new Lamborghini Huracán STO only weighs 1,339 kilograms, 43 kilograms less than the Huracán Performante.

Moreover, the new Lamborghini Huracán STO features a wider wheel track, stiffer suspension bushing, specific anti-roll bars and Lamborghini’s MagneRide 2.0, (an electromagnetic system that controls the suspension).

Providing the stopping power for the new Lamborghini Huracán STO are its Brembo CCM-R brakes that are more durable and which can resist heat four times higher than traditional CCB systems. This system improves maximum brake power by 25 percent.

The interior of the new Lamborghini Huracán STO is fitted with carbon fiber items like sport seats, Alcantara pieces covered with Lamborghini’s Carbonskin, floor mats (which take the place of carpets) and door panels.

“All technical solutions and intelligence gained from both Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo and GT3 programs have been refined and embodied in the Huracán STO, allowing you to experience the emotions of a racing driver in a road-legal Lamborghini super sports car able to set lap records,” Automobili Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Maurizio Reggiani said.
