Ride-hailing app Grab Philippines has launched a partnership with Department of Tourism (DOT) as part of its commitment to support the its National Tourism Development Plan 2016-2022.
The partnership aims to promote national tourism and help grow the tourism economy in the country.
During the signing of the memorandum of understanding at Intramuros, Manila, Grab through its transport solutions, agreed to showcase the Philippines' natural wonders, tourist attractions, heritage, and culture to both local and foreign tourists.
"As the Philippines' leading everyday Super App, Grab recognizes our unique role beyond our core service offerings of transportation and mobility. We are excited and humbled to be working with the Department of Tourism as its partner in promoting tourist attractions in the Philippines," Grab Philippines President Brian Cu said.
To help promote Philippine tourism to prospective tourists within Southeast Asia, Grab-partner vehicles operating within the region shall highlight and disseminate digital tourism materials produced and developed by the DOT.
"As a Filipino myself, I couldn’t be prouder being given this rare opportunity to help make people appreciate our beautiful country. Through this initiative, we hope to instill a keen sense of nationalism and pride amongst our kababayans," Cu added.
In the same event, Grab also signed a memorandum of agreement with the Intramuros Administration to conduct a Pilot Test of GrabWheels within Intramuros for a period of three (3) months, free of charge to the public.
GrabWheels, as a personal mobility solution, aims to provide exceptional value to the Intramuros experience as a safe, fun, and eco-friendly way for tourists and visitors alike to explore Intramuros, and to help decongest the roads within the walled city. Some 30 GrabWheels units will be deployed for tourism use of the public and will be seen at key areas within Intramuros.
