  • What can customers expect from Honda's "safe and sound" network technology?

Honda says that its safe and sound network technology will use a system that reproduces the traffic environment in the virtual space and predicts situational risks.
  • When will these new technologies be rolled out?

The company aims to implement these technologies by 2030.
  • These advanced future safety technologies are rooted in Honda’s “zero traffic collision fatalities” goal that the Japanese carmaker aims to achieve by 2050.

Honda says that its intelligent driver-assistive technology is based on research on the factors behind human errors by studying the human brain and analysis of risk-taking behaviors. A system will presume predictions of driving errors based on information obtained through a driver monitoring camera and pattern of the driving operations.

In addition, Honda says that its next-gen driver assist technology will have no driving operation errors, no oversight or prediction errors, and no errors due to daydreaming and careless driving.

The company’s safe and sound network technology, on the other hand, will use a system that understands and recognizes the situation and surrounding environment of each driver and road user. Information about potential risks in the traffic environment will be linked to the server through a communication network. This will allow the system to reproduce the traffic environment in the virtual space and predict situational risks.

Honda says that the company aims to implement these technologies by 2030.

“Striving to completely eliminate mobility risks for everyone sharing the road, Honda will offer safety and peace of mind to each and every road user as a new value. Applying our future safety technologies which will embody such new value, Honda will work toward the realization of ‘zero traffic collision fatalities’ involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050. For the realization of a collision-free society where all road users care for each other and the freedom of mobility becomes possible, we will further accelerate our industry-wide and public-private initiatives.” commented Honda R&D Co., Ltd. President and Representative Director Keiji Ohtsu.
