House Bill Granting Hazard Pay for MMDA Traffic Enforcers Filed
Rep. Precious Hipolito-Castelo of the second district of Quezon City and vice-chairman of the House Committee on Metro Manila Development has filed House Bill 2922 which seeks to grant traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) a hazard pay--something which agency chief Danilo Lim recently called for.
Hipolito-Castelo explained that the men and women of the MMDA risk their lives in their everyday chores in different areas in Metro Manila just to keep the traffic safe and stable despite the enormous problem that it poses.
"It is about time that MMDA traffic enforcers received what is due to them," Hipolito-Castelo explained in her filing of the bill. "On account of the danger and risks that their job entails, the MMDA traffic enforcers should be granted (a) hazard pay equivalent to at least 20-percent of their basic salary and the same shall not be subject to tax."
