It’s official: Geely Emgrand set for PH launch on Feb. 25

As early as 2020, Carmudi Philippines started speculating about the coming of the Geely Emgrand, and it seems that we were right all along after Sojitz G Philippines (SGAP) has officially announced its introduction this month.

As posted on its official Facebook page, Geely Philippines said that the public launch of the brand’s much-awaited sedan will be held on February 25 at 7 p.m.

No other details were shared yet, but one thing is definite as of this point: the vehicle will have a “Be Driven” tagline as seen in all the teaser and invitation videos released since early February.

Last January, SGAP President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yosuke Nishi announced that the company is ready to field its challenger in the sedan category.  

“Our confidence in the decision to finally enter the challenging sedan market comes from the overwhelming support and trust we have been getting from the people for the past two years. Not to mention the growing demand for entry level vehicles that started when the pandemic broke out,” Nishi said in an earlier statement.

SGAP also stated that the sedan offering shares the same platform (B-segment Modular Architecture [BMA>) with the Coolray — Geely’s flagship model when the brand was reintroduced in 2019.

The Emgrand badge was previously offered in the country by the then Philippine distributor of Geely vehicles, Autochina.
