LTFRB Adjusts Fare Rates for TNVS Units
Don't be surprised if the usual fare you pay for your daily commute with a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) has changed as effective August 2, 2019, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has adjusted the fares of the aforementioned units depending on the vehicle's body type.
For sedan-type cars, for example, the fares are now PHP40 for flag-down and PHP15 for every succeeding kilometer. For premium vehicles and SUVs, the fares are PHP50 and PHP2, respectively, while for hatchbacks and subcompact vehicles with an engine displacement of less than 1.2-liter, the rates are PHP30 and PHP13, respectively.
Regardless of vehicle type though, an additional PHP2 is charged for every minute of travel and the surge pricing is computed as 2x that of the charge per kilometer and per minute of travel.
So, if you took a TNVS recently, was the price adjustment negligible?
