Masao is next Nissan PH president

MANILA: Nissan Philippines Incorporated (NPI) will be led by a new executive soon.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker’s local arm shared that Masao Tsutsumi shall be the next NPI president starting April 1. He will be based in Manila and shall report directly to Nissan ASEAN and Thailand President Toshihiro Fujiki.

The incoming leader is the current senior vice president of Nissan Motor Thailand. Under his ongoing stint, he is in charge of the following:

• Marketing, Sales
• Dealer Network Development/Customer Experience and Customer Quality
• After Sales
• Human Resources and Administration
• Communications
• External and Government Affairs
• Legal
• Information System
• Corporate Planning

Per NPI, Tsutsumi has more than two decades of experience in Marketing, Brand, Sales and Aftersales across various industries such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), technology and electronics, and food services. He joined Nissan back in 2018 under the Japan Brand and Media Strategy and became part of the ASEAN Market in 2021.

He will succeed outgoing company president Yasuhisa Masuda, who has been appointed as the next chief operating officer of Renault Japon Company, Limited.

It was during Masuda’s stint that Nissan Philippines launched the Z Nismo, Almera Sport trim, and the upcoming all-new Patrol. At the same time, the company was able to open four new dealerships.

Further, Masuda also introduced the brand philosophy “Always Daring” to the local market and celebrated Nissan’s 55th anniversary in the country.
