KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Who observed and certified the Petron Turbo Diesel performance run?

Representatives from the Department of Energy-Energy Utilization Management Bureau, Automobile Association of the Philippines, and Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists observed and certified the performance run.
  • How much distance did the vehicles cover for the event?

The 12 vehicles covered 258 kilometers from Bataan all the way to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
  • In a statement, Petron said that the performance run was observed and certified by representatives from the Department of Energy-Energy Utilization Management Bureau, Automobile Association of the Philippines, and Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists.

During the test runs, a total of 12 vehicles were subjected to real-world driving conditions by covering 258 kilometers of Bataan up the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

Participants in the event first benchmark fuel efficiency data and driver ratings using regular diesel. Then covering the same route, the test vehicles were then filled with Petron Turbo Diesel loaded from a regular service station pump. After the first load, more than half of the vehicles used showed an average distance gain of 11.9 percent.

“After the second load of Petron Turbo Diesel, the test vehicles improved their fuel efficiency with an average of 16.4 percent additional distance gained per liter. These results confirm that most diesel engine vehicles, whether new or old, can improve their fuel efficiency with the continued use of Petron Turbo Diesel,” the company said in a statement.

    The vehicles used in the run were the following: 2022 Nissan Terra 4x4 2.5L AT, 2022 Toyota Fortuner 2.4L AT, 2016 Toyota Fortuner 2.4L AT, 2016 Mitsubishi Montero 2.4L AT, 2022 Isuzu D-Max 2.0L AT, 2022 Mitsubishi Strada 2.5L AT, 2022 Maxus T60 2.8L AT, 2022 Maxus G10 1.9L AT, 2022 Isuzu Traviz 2.5L MT, 2019 Toyota Innova 2.8L AT; and 2022 BMW X1 1.8L AT.

According to Petron Research and Development, the high ignition quality and combustibility of its Turbo Diesel product maximized fuel energy conservation by “producing maximum engine power while maintaining fuel efficiency.”

“Further, its proven ability to effectively clean up the fuel injection system and then preserve its cleanliness delivers exceptional protection and maintains optimum performance,” the marque added in the press release.
