Shell’s Spin to Win hands P1M prize to lucky broker

The year 2020 was rough patch for everyone. Massive lay-offs, companies closing down, businesses spiraling out of control: all these were experienced as we all try to survive amid all the uncertainties.

With all that, a little ray of hope is something we all aspire for—and that is just what real-estate broker Juan Ardales earned, the P1 million winner of Shell’s Spin for Great Journeys.

Prior to winning, Ardales shared that he, just like the most of us, got hit hard by the effects of the pandemic. Being a freelance real-estate broker, 2020 was the year Ardales was not merely losing prospecting buyers, he was not getting any at all.

“Nung nagkaroon ng pandemic, may mga buyers na ako na naka-schedule na sa contract signing, nag-withdraw lahat sila,” he shared, adding it was far from the success that he experienced pre-pandemic.

With a wife and two kids to take care of, recovering from the challenge proved to be a tall task for him. But it was in the same breath that he tried his luck with the Shell Spin for Great Journeys raffle promo. Although being a skeptic that he would bag anything, he had made his options open by joining.

Ardales said that he had almost missed the call as he initially did not answer his phone when the Pilipinas Shell team reached out to him. But when he picked the call up, he was immediately informed of the P1-million prize he got.

With that winning, he expressed his gratitude to Shell, especially to Shell C5 Heritage where he made his winning purchase. “Actually, yung Shell gas station na ‘yon, ever since nag-open sila, regular talaga akong nagpapa-gas doon. He bared that his winning will be used to pay his living expenses while the rest will be put to investments and opening his own real-estate business this 2021.

Shell has always advocated for helping Filipino communities, and this promo aims to assist the Filipinos who were affected by the pandemic. Shell Head of Retail Marketing Arvin Obmerga explained the reason for picking the prizes.

“Ang pinag-isipan po namin, ano ang mga pangangailangan ng Pilipino? Una, ang pangangailangan nilang makapag-aral sa bahay. Kaya may laptop. Pangalawa, matulungan sila in terms of livelihood. Kaya may cash prize. Pangatlo, naghahanap ng way of transportation, kaya may kotse,” Obmerga was quoted as saying.

Shell’s ‘Spin for Great Journeys’ raffle promo is ongoing until end of January. To join, motorists only need to spend a minimum single receipt spend of at least P500 on Shell fuels, P250 on Shell lubricants, or P250 on Shell SELECT products from participating Shell stations that would enable them to get a chance at the digital wheel.
