Suzuki PH eyes selling up to 500 all-new Celerios monthly

All-new Suzuki Celerio

Suzuki Philippines (SPH) is planning to sell as many as 400-500 units monthly of the newly-introduced version of the Celerio.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the all-new Suzuki Celerio?

The all-new Suzuki Celerio has a 998cc K10C Dualjet engine paired to either a five-speed manual slushbox or an Auto Gear Shift.
  • What are among the features found in the all-new Suzuki Celerio?

The technologies found in the newly introduced model include Engine Auto Stop Start System, the Total Effective Control Technology, anti-lock braking system and electronic stability program.
  • SPH Auto Sales Manager Jude Racadio shared the company’s target during the compact hatchback's virtual launch, expressing confidence that the latest offering will be one of the brand’s sales drivers in the country.

“Because of the necessity for fuel-efficient cars, we are pressed for the idea that we should offer such vehicles to our customers,” Racadio told Carmudi Philippines during the online press conference.

Based on the test observed by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the vehicle can do 28.25kpl.

Powering the all-new Suzuki Celerio is the 998cc K10C Dualjet engine that can produce up to 67hp and 89Nm of torque —with either five-speed manual slushbox or an automated manual transmission called Auto Gear Shift (AGS).

However, he said that while it is minute in size and sips very little fuel, it is heavy on features.

“Of course, offering a fuel-efficient car doesn’t necessarily mean that it will limit the customers’ experience. With a fuel-efficient car, we still offer new technology that will be enjoyed by our customers,” Racadio noted.

Further, the vehicle is equipped with technologies such as Engine Auto Stop Start System (EASS) that shuts off the engine when the vehicle is in idle, Suzuki TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) efficiently absorbs and disperses energy in the event of collision, anti-lock braking system and electronic stability program as well as dual airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, rear parking sensors and hill-hold control.

It also has a 6.2-inch touchscreen audio unit with weblink 2.0, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The sound system can be controlled with the use of the buttons found on the steering wheel.

“This product, with its size, we are offering technology with a price point that is very reasonable, (yet) very competitive. And with the technology that it has to offer in the segment, we are very positive that this will definitely make a dent in the market,” Racadio explained.

The newest generation of the Suzuki Celerio starts at P708,000 for the GL manual variant, and P754,000 for the GL AGS option. The price is above its biggest rival, the Toyota Wigo (which is only priced at P568,000-P700,000 only). However, Racadio said that the price is still competitive given the features that it offers.

“With the technology, we are sure that our customers will have a better ride, and they will be living big every moment,” he explained.

SPH General Manager for Automobile Norihide Takei said that the nameplate’s latest generation “has evolved into a compact car that will make people's life easier, more convenient” and allow one to “express personality in an age where diversity is expected."

“We are confident that the new Celerio will exceed the expectations of customers who seek for both practicality and individuality,” he added.
