The 2020 Toyota Highlander Features Actress Cobie Smulder in Big Game's Ad

The all-new 2020 Toyota Highlander's new sizzling "Heroes" ad will be featured to this year's Big Game. Featuring Cobie Smulders driving the powerful SUV, the actress will portray an action hero and a mother as she rescues various characters in familiar movie moments.

“When Toyota approached me, I felt very flattered getting to play the hero in my first-ever Big Game commercial,” said actress Cobie Smulders. “I’m a mom, and I love that I’m playing a mom in this ad. When I think of heroes, I think of women and moms – the toughest people out there – and to be able to represent that is a wonderful thing.”

The ad, which starts off the "Go Highlander" campaign for the fourth generation Highlander, will be shown in the first ad break of the fourth quarter's Big Game.

And the main star of the show? It's the Toyota Highlander Platinum grade.

“This commercial truly highlights the all-new Highlander’s incredible array of features, even greater capabilities and spacious interior,” said Ed Laukes, group vice president, Toyota Marketing, Toyota Motor North America. “The spot’s message of ‘go wherever they need you’ speaks to the adventurous spirit of Highlander and its ability to help drivers tap into their inner hero.”

The Toyota Highlander Platinum features an exterior with a panoramic moon-roof, 20-inch Platinum style wheels, self-leveling headlamps, head-up display, birds-eye-view camera, and digital display rear view mirror. Its interiors include a 12.3-inch multimedia display, embossed leather trimmed seats, illuminated door scuff plates, available Glazed Caramel interior, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and heated second-row seats.

It comes with standard safety features available to all 2020 Highlander variants, including the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. This comprehensive active safety system includes an impressive package, such as the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beam (AHB), and (New) Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).

Aside from the Highlander Platinum, the newest Toyota Highlander comes in L, LE, XLE, and Limited variants. They come with either a gas-powered drivetrain or with the new-generation Toyota Hybrid System. The hybrid is offered in all variants except the L trim.
