Toyota leads CAMPI's Q1 2017 sales
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) has sold a total of 36,561 units for March 2017, pushing the Q1 2017 sales to 94,026 units to reflect a 23 percent increase from the same period last year at 76,473 units.
The Passenger Car segment grew by seven percent with 31,951 units sold for the first three months of 2017 compared to the same period last year with 29,976 units. For March, Passenger Car sales grew by 30 percent with 11,853 units compared to February’s 9,114 units.
The Commercial Vehicle segment grew by 33 percent with 62,075 units sold for Q1 2017 compared to 46,677 sold for the same period last year. March sales grew by 38 percent with 24,708 units over 17,926 units sold in February.
Top sales performers for Q1 2017 are Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation with 43 percent, followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation with 17 percent, Ford Motor Company Philippines, Inc. with eight percent, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. with seven percent, and Isuzu Philippines Corporation with six percent.
"The Philippine automotive industry has, thus far, continue the path of motorization," said CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez. "While the 1st quarter performance gives us reason to be optimistic, we are still cautious about our own target for the year."
