Toyota Motor PH confirms Ativ to be sold alongside Vios

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) confirmed that the arrival of the Ativ will not lead to the removal of the ever-popular Vios from its lineup.

In fact, the leading automotive company said that the newest addition will complement the existing subcompact sedan (which offers a hybrid powertrain option). 

With such an arrangement, the Toyota will have the same treatment as the Innova (another locally manufactured model under the Japanese automaker) with the Zenix.

“The All-New Toyota Ativ is another statement of Toyota’s continued mission to bring electrified mobility within reach of more Filipinos,” TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Sue Marcial was quoted as saying.

“We know choosing your first car, and an electrified model at that, can be a bold decision, so the Ativ makes it simple and easy by delivering modern HEV features, while providing peace of mind with reliability, safety, ease of ownership, and joy of use,” she added.

Here are some important bits about the all-new Toyota Ativ, which is designed to cater to the demands of practical professionals and young families looking for their first or additional vehicle.

The all-new Toyota Ativ comes with the following measurements:

The car boasts a fastback silhouette that matches its overall contemporary look highlighted by its horizontal grille, distinct headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights, fully-functional air vents and a mean-looking rear — resembling the locally-retailed Camry.

Its cabin is tailored with leather or fabric and is fitted with the following creature comforts:

• Seven-inch digital multi-information display
• Up to 10.1-inch infotainment audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Hold (HEV variant only) 
• Push Start and Smart Entry 
• Wireless charger (HEV variant only) 
• Panoramic view monitor (higher variations only) 

Further, the all-new Toyota is powered by any of the three engine options, namely:

• 1.5-liter four-cylinder, in-line, 16 valve hybrid electric with dual variable valve timing (VVT-i)
• 1.5-liter four-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve, gasoline-fed with dual VVT-i
• 1.3-liter four-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve, gasoline-fed with dual VVT-i

These are either fitted with a continuous variable transmission or a manual slushbox (limited to the entry-level variation).

The newest electrified offering from TMP is also equipped with multiple airbags, anti-lock brake system with brake assist, vehicle stability control, blind spot monitor and ISOFIX child restraint systems that complements the Toyota Safety Sense features such as:

• Pre-collision system
• Automatic high beam
• Lane tracing assist
• Lane departure alert
• Adaptive cruise control (for the top-of-the-line trim)
