Toyota releases statement on reported COVID-19 infections at work sites

Per Toyota, the most recent infection happened on August 5 and 6. There were also work-related infections from July 24 and 26.In a recent press release, the Aichi prefecture-based company wrote: “We sincerely apologize for the anxiety and concern that this news may cause to people in the surrounding regions. The virus is an issue that has the potential to affect all Toyota locations and we are continuously working to further enhance our communication and health checks with staff at all locations. Toyota is actively implementing measures to prevent the further spread of the virus and remain committed to provide timely updates as the situation requires.”
The most recent incidents of COVID-19 infections in Toyota’s Japanese sites include the ones announced on July 26 and 27, as well as the one announced on August 8.
According to Toyota, two males in their 30s, a male in his 30s, and two males in their 40s tested positive on July 24 and 25. The affected site was then disinfected on July 25 and 26.
Meanwhile, three males in their 20s, a male in his 30s, three males in their 40s, and a female in her 30s, tested positive for COVID-19 on July 24, 25, and 26. The site was also disinfected on July 25 and 26.
Both the July incidents happened at Toyota’s Takaoka Plant in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
On the other hand, two males in their 30s and a male in his 40s tested positive for COVID-19 on August 5 and 6. The affected site (Tsutsumi Plant) was disinfected on August 5.
At the time of the said incidents, operations for the affected sites have been suspended.
