VICOAP lauds LTO for online vehicle registration facility launch

PMVIC

The Vehicle Inspection Centers Operators Association of the Philippines (VICOAP) lauded the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for launching the Land Transportation Management System’s (LTMS) online vehicle registration renewal.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can vehicle owners take advantage of the new system?

Vehicle owners may renew their vehicles online provided their vehicles have been registered beforehand using an LTMS account.
  • What are the requirements under the new system?

A MotorVehicle Inspection System Report (MVISR) number from an accredited privatemotor vehicle inspection center (PMVIC) and a validated Certificate of Coverage(CoC) number (also known as a Third Party Liability Insurance policynumber) are required.
  • In a statement, VICOAP President Aaron Cabiltes said that the latest development shall allow vehicle owners to “experience next-level convenience by being able to renew their vehicle registrations at their comfort and convenience."

“It will only be a matter of time when the hassles of setting aside an entire day for a visit to the LTO become a distant memory,” he said.

    VICOAP

With the newly-launched service, vehicle owners may renew their vehicles online provided their vehicles have been registered beforehand using an LTMS account. With that, only a Motor Vehicle Inspection System Report (MVISR) number from an accredited private motor vehicle inspection center (PMVIC) and a validated Certificate of Coverage (CoC) number (otherwise known as a Third Party Liability Insurance policy number) are required.

"VICOAP commends the LTO under the steadfast leadership of Asec. (Jose Arturo) Tugade. His thrust to address the challenges faced by the LTO by instituting these modern initiatives on top of his active pursuit of ridding the agency of corruption, has shown that the LTO is well on its way of becoming a trustworthy frontline agency. By patronizing this online registration renewal, vehicle owners are not just enjoying a convenience now available to them but are also actively participating in eliminating corruption – and not perpetuating it,” Cabiltes continued.

    PMVIC

VICOAP reiterated that though PMVIC are fully-equipped to conduct all essential vehicle inspections prior to the issuance of an MVISR number used for online renewals, they still remain optional for motorists. However, should vehicle owners opt for the older system of Private Emission Testing Centers (PETC) for inspections, they will still be obligated to undergo roadworthiness checks at LTO District Offices. This means that they will be unable to avail of the online facility.

Earlier, the LTO leadership announced that the LTMS’ full utilization is expected to begin this coming August.
