World Car Awards announces top 3 finalists

Following last month’s announcement of its top 10 finalists, the World Car Awards have released a narrowed-down list revealing the top three frontrunners for the World Car Finals powered by Brembo.

The top three finalists of the organization’s six award categories have been selected by a jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 32 countries.

“We are on the cusp of an intense new era in mobility, in which Brembo is committed to interpreting performance in a new way. The path we have undertaken leads us to develop increasingly innovative and sustainable products, characteristics we share with the World Car Finals. We are proud to partner these prestigious awards for the fifth consecutive year, as they inspire excellence and leadership in the automotive industry,” said Brembo Chief Executive Officer Daniele Schillaci.

Below are the top three finalists in their respective categories:

World Car of the Year

• Toyota GR Corolla

World Urban Car

• Citroen C3
• ORA Funky Cat / Haomao
• Volkswagen Taigo/Nivus

World Car Design

• Hyundai Ioniq 6
• Land Rover Range Rover
• Lucid Air

Winners, the organization explained, will be announced live at the New York International Auto Show on April 5, 2023.

Those who will be named victors will receive new versions of the traditional World Car trophy, created by Ian Callum’s design and engineering consultancy. Callum was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2019 for services to the British car industry and is recognized as one of the most prominent designers in the automotive industry.

“The World Car Awards are held in the highest regard by the industry and as a recipient, I appreciate how much it means to a design team to have it proudly on display in the studio. Reimagining both the design and manufacture is a huge privilege and just the opportunity the team at Callum (the name of his consultancy firm) relish,” Callum stated.
