Underbone motorcycles—otherwise known as mopeds—are a popular mode of transportation in the Philippines. They are cheap, easy to maintain, and cost minimal to operate, making them a top transportation choice for many Filipinos. Of all the many moped choices in the country, there is one brand that will surely cross one’s mind, and that’s the Honda Wave 100. The Wave 100 is one of the most popular moped models to run around Philippine streets. Introduced in 2006, the Wave 100 instantly became a huge seller, and a bona fide hit among those looking for an affordable and economical moped. The Wave 100 last went through a significant refresh in 2013. In 2014 however, Honda upgraded the Wave engine from 97.1 cc to 109 cc, and consequently replaced the name from Wave 100 to Wave 110.

Honda Wave 100 Review in the Philippines

Honda Wave 100 Specs and Performance

The Wave 100’s has always sported 97.1 cc engine unit. The engine is of the four-stroke variety, and mated to Honda’s old reliable semi-automatic 4-speed rotary type transmission. The pair allows this Honda bike to achieve an output of 7.19 hp and 7.34 Nm of torque. Despite the small displacement, the last Wave 100 is known to deliver a quiet and smooth ride, even when pushed. Granted, the bike does feel like it runs out of steam at fourth gear, but the ride quality remains pretty decent.

Honda Wave 100 Fuel Consumption

As is characteristic of a moped, the Wave 100 is no gas-guzzler, making it an excellent daily commuter. Its light piston paired a roller rocker arm allows it to earn a fuel consumption rating of 49.4 km/l, way better than most of its counterparts. Since the Wave 100 engine was unchanged for much of its lifespan, its fuel consumption average has remained constant for pretty much every year of its release, as you can see below:
