Hyundai’s latest and biggest SUV, the 2020 Palisade, earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) of the United States.
The three-row family hauler scored top marks in all crashworthiness tests conducted by the American non-profit safety organization, earning the top score of 'Superior' for its standard front crash prevention system with forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. The system helped the Palisade avoid frontal collision from 12 to 25 mph (20 to 40 kmh) during track testing. The SUV received 'Good' crashworthiness ratings overall.
However, the main feature that helped the Palisade earn the '+' rating were the optional LED headlights. These headlights are included only with the top-of-the-line Limited trim level and are offered as an option on the mid-level SEL trim.
The car's base halogen lights received only a 'Moderate' rating. This means that models equipped with the base lights do not qualify for the 'Top Safety Pick+' or even the 'Top Safety Pick' rating.
The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is already available in the Philippines.
