7th-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S now in PH showrooms

Porsche Philippines has recently announced the availability of the all-new 911 Turbo S on Philippine shores.

Also known as the “drag race king”, the seventh-generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo S can cover the quarter-mile distance in 10.1 seconds, thanks to its six-cylinder, 3.8 liter boxer engine that can churn around 641 horsepower and 800 Nm—quite an upgrade from the previous engine’s 572 hp and 750 Nm output.

The engine on the latest version of the Posrche 911 Turbo S is mated to an eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, and 0-100 kilometers per hour can be reached in 2.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the car can hit the breakneck top speed of 330 km/h.

Though the power mill is basically the same, the all-new 911 Turbo S is now equipped with a re-engineered charge air cooling system, two new larger variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers with electrically-adjustable wastegate flaps, and piezo injectors.

Also, its turbine wheels are larger by five millimeters (mm)—now 55mm in diameter—while the 61mm-compressor wheel has grown by 3mm. Its wastegate flaps are now electrically controlled by stepper motors.

Aside from that, the latest model offering has a new intake system that “swaps around the previous routing of processed air and charge air cooling.” This time around, the part of the processed air “flows through the characteristic Turbo air intakes on the car’s flanks” and an added two airflows are now within the rear lid grille, giving the all-new 911 Turbo S four larger intakes.

Further, the all-wheel drive system now has an enhanced Porsche Traction Management unit—meaning the transfer case can provide more torque—allowing 500Nm to be being transmitted to its front wheels.

The latest generation of the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management chassis gives more controlled driving to enhance roll stability, road holding, steering behavior and cornering speeds.

The dimensions of the all-new Porsche 911 Turbo S is 45mm wider up front (at 1,840 millimeters) and 20mm at the rear. For the first time in the history of the 911 Turbo S, it now sits on mixed tire sizes—20-inch 255/35 tires in the front and 21-inch 315/30 tires at the back.

Complementing the overall sporty appearance and performance is the controlled cooling air flaps at the front and a larger rear wing. The redesigned, pneumatically extendable front spoiler and the larger rear wing deliver is said to deliver 15 percent more downforce.

The all-new 911 Turbo S is now available for viewing at Porsche Philippines showrooms on EDSA, Greenhills, and at Bonifacio Global City. For more information, please visit porsche.com.ph, facebook.com/porschecentrephilippines, and instagram.com/porsche_philippines.
