All-new Honda Prelude officially goes on sale, priced at P3.498-M

MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) has officially started the sale of the all-new Prelude, which has a price tag of P3.498 million. 

Per the local wing of the Japanese car manufacturer, the two-door coupe brings “nostalgic, well-loved heritage with new technology tailored for today’s market,” on top of the familiar performance and driving dynamics fans of the marque have come to love.

Exterior appointments

The all-new Honda Prelude comes in a sleek coupe body style with two doors, giving it an aerodynamically sound shell that looks fast even when sitting still in a parking lot. 

Speaking of which, its low stance — as well as hidden door handles and liftback door at the rear — is complemented by a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels (which hide Blue Brembo brake calipers with Prelude logos) wrapped in 235/40 96 series tires. 

It is equipped with LED illumination (daytime running lamps, main headlamps, taillights, side turn signals, and high-mount stop lamp) and has active cornering lamps, which enhance nighttime visibility by illuminating the side of the road during turns. 

Power-folding side mirrors (with heating function) and rain-sensing wipers help provide would-be owners with practical features. 

Style is kicked up a notch thanks to gloss back door garnishes, side sills, as well as front and rear bumpers.

Interior amenities

The cockpit of the all-new Honda Prelude welcomes drivers with perforated leather seats (blue), and gets them in the mood to drive with its D-shaped steering wheel that has an Alcantara accent on top. 

Feeding drivers with relevant data is a crisp 10.2-inch digital instrument panel. A nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sits at the center of the dashboard. 

Audiophiles can enjoy their favorite playlists or listen to curated podcasts via the car’s eight-speaker Bose sound system. 

Still a practical choice, it can seat passengers at the back with its bench-type seats clad in black fabric. 

Hybrid powertrain

Under the bonnet of the all-new Honda Prelude is a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine with the Honda e:HEV full hybrid system — similar to that of the Civic Type-R, which it will eventually replace. 

Transmission is an electric continuously variable system with a shift-by-wire system and paddle shifters.

Notably, the all-new Honda Prelude is equipped with the S+ Shift technology, which simulates an eight-speed transmission. Further, activating the feature produces visual, audio, and tactile signals such as meter display changes, virtual engine sounds, and seat vibrations to create a more engaging driving experience. 

When using S+ Shift, the right paddle shifter simulates upshifts while the left paddle mimics rev-matched downshifts. 

Creating more tailored driving experiences is the four selectable drive modes, namely Individual, Sport, GT, and Comfort.

The all-new Honda Prelude gets the Honda Sensing suite of safety technologies, which include:
