ARTA Commends LTO 'For Exemplary Service, Support of Ease of Doing Business' Law

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has commended the Land Transportation Office (LTO) "…for exemplary service and support in the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business law."

ARTA Director General (DG) Atty. Jeremiah Beljica presented the Certificate of Commendation to LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante during the LTO-NCR West Awarding Ceremony for the top users and supporters of the LTO online payment system as it hits the PHP1 billion mark.

In his speech, Belgica extolled the leadership of Galvante, noting that the LTO has a leadership that learns.

"You have a leader who is learning… Napakahusay ni LTO Chief Galvante and he is a prime example of what a leader should be,” he said.

DG Belgica added that though the LTO receives many complaints, it is also the agency that receives the greatest number of praises for the improvements in its processes.

"Maraming reklamo ngunit sila rin ang maraming papuring natanggap," Belgica noted.

He also emphasized that, "…indeed we are facing a better tomorrow than before" because of the innovations being introduced by the LTO, especially the adoption of technology-driven initiatives such as the online payment system.

The agency, through the LTO-NCR West, was able to collect more than PHP1 billion since the introduction of the online payment system for initial registration of brand-new vehicles in October 2018 up to June 2019.

The LTO held the awarding ceremony on August 15 to recognize the avid supporters and partners of the agency in the implementation of the online payment.

Currently, the online payment system is being implemented in LTO National Capital West and Regional Office 3, and soon, in other regional offices.

Under the soon-to-be implemented new DOTr-LTO IT System, the mode of payment will be expanded to include all banks, payment centers, payment kiosks, etc.

In the pipeline is the online payment for other transactions like renewal of driver's licenses and motor vehicles, and payment of fines for law enforcement violations.
