Audi Q4 e-tron, Q4 Sportback e-tron get TSP+ honor from IIHS

Audi announced that two of the brand’s newest models namely the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron received the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) recognition from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The independent, non-profit organization gave the German automaker’s electric midsize luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) the highest possible rating, which serves as a testament to the level of safety the two vehicles offer Audi’s customers.

To get the TSP+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, namely the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. The vehicle must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Additionally, to receive a TSP+ rating, “good” or “acceptable” headlights must be standard across all variants.

Per IIHS, the tested 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron achieved a “good” rating in all six crashworthiness tests. It also had “good” headlight ratings and “superior” ratings in both its vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention test. Likewise, the tested 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback received “good” ratings in all six crashworthiness tests and “good” headlight ratings. However, it received a “superior” rating for its vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention test and an “advanced” rating for its vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention test.

The Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron sit alongside its stablemate, the Audi Q5 and the Audi Q5 Sportback, in the list of 2022 TSP+ awardees for the midsize luxury SUV category. Vehicles from other brands that were also recipients of the 2022 TSP+ award are the Acura MDX, Acura RDX, BMS X3, Cadillac XT6, Genesis GV70, Genesis GV80, Hyundai Nexo, Infiniti QX60, Lexus NX, Lexus NX Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV), Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Tesla Model Y, Volvo XC60, Volvo XC60 Recharge, Volvo XC90, and the Volvo XC90 Recharge.
