Bad Habits in Parking

Almost everyone has a skeleton in their closet when it comes to parking habits--some worse than others. But just like any sin, there is no gravity when it comes to this kind of problem and it has to be addressed immediately and properly.

We listed some of the antagonists in the parking area to know if we are also guilty about this (so that we can refrain doing it the next time). -

Lane Hogging

We see this in the very first few viral photos over social media. Vehicle users/owners--especially those who are in a hurry (or simply just lack parking skills) tend to park their cars as they please despite the presence of lane markings that need to follow.

The really bad thing about this is that once you hog two lanes, there will be a domino effect: the cars near you would tend to do the same so that they could alight or get in their cars.

Garbage Parking

How many time do you see a clean parking slot? Not many, right? That's because some people have this habit of throwing trash outside their doors or windows while parked, thinking that the establishment has cleaners to pick up after them. It is as if it is a tall task to throw their garbage in the bins or dispose it in their next destination.

What these litter bugs don't think about is this: they are giving other people an idea that it's okay to throw trash if you can get away with it.

Parkour Parking

This happens when vehicle users, again, are in a hurry and need to park their vehicle immediately. Many put their cars on islands, or even along the road, placing it very near walls, in between posts, or anywhere other than the parking slots.

This is not a rare case as many establishments usually don't have enough space, especially when they conduct sales, concerts or any other events that would draw in a huge crowd. It would seem to be harmless, but just like on the road, this could cause congestion in traffic, accidents, or delay first-responders, among others. It never hurts to follow the rules, right?

Ding a lings

You accidentally bumped another car lightly while getting in or out of that space. Should you tell or do you try to get away with it? If you would resort to the latter, then you are a part of the problem.

The good ol’ golden rule that says ‘Do not do unto others’ applies here. While you may get away with it, think about the other person who would get the surprise of his life that he or she knows nothing about?

Standee Parking

This also was highlighted in a viral video wherein someone ‘saves’ a slot by standing on a vacant slot. Doing so could result in tempers flaring up that might end in a physical or verbal altercation.

Parking slots are for cars, and people saving that slot somehow breaches the unwritten rule about first come, first serve.
