Rehab of Boracay Circumferential Road to be Completed in October
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that the rehabilitation of the Boracay Circumferential Road (BCR) will be completed in time for the island's scheduled reopening this October 2018.
Villar along with Region 6 Assistant Regional Director Al Fruto and District Engineer Noel Fuentebella inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the BCR.
In case you're wondering, the BCR is a 5.2-km road, which serves as the island's main road network. Villar added that the agency has started to pour concrete and install pipes along Cagban to Elizalde Compound and it is "almost 40-percent complete."
In addition, the construction of the missing gap from Barangay Manoc-Manoc to Barangay Yapak is now 60-percent complete, according to Villar.
The agency is also constructing a 204-lineal meter reinforced concrete pipe culvert for better drainage facility. It will have five catchment basins, a 22-lineal meter cross drain, and a 130-lineal meter cut-off wall for installation of curb and gutter.
Last April 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the closure of Boracay for six months to rehabilitate the island. In line with this, Villar said that the DPWH aims to complete the BCR in October 2018. The BCR will have sidewalks on both sides and will also feature bike lanes.
