CAMPI-TMA enjoys 11% sales growth in Jan.-Jul. 2024

MANILA: The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) enjoyed a 10.9-percent sales increase for the first seven months of 2024.

    Last month, CAMPI and TMA cooperatively rolled out 39,331 examples to customers — reflecting a 0.6-percent rise compared to the 39,088 examples turned over to clients in June 2024 and 6.1-percent more than the 37,086 vehicles delivered to buyers for the same month last year.

    Models under the commercial vehicle segment collectively sold 194,812 units in the initial seven months of the year — cornering 73.35-percent market share. The sales performance showed an 8.7-percent growth versus the 179,144 vehicles sold in the same period the previous year.

    Meanwhile, those under the passenger car category sold 70,798 units in the first seven months of the year — demonstrating a 17.3-percent jump from the 60,357-unit output under the same duration in 2023.

    CAMPI President Rommel Gutierrez said that the positive sales were boosted by the new product launches, improved product offerings, good sales momentum, as well as supply availability that “helped neutralize the impact of Typhoon Carina, especially towards the latter part of July.”

    Continuing to hold the biggest share in the local automotive scene is Toyota Motor Philippines with 122,730 units released to clients (46.21-percent share), followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation with 50,599 examples sold (19.05 percent).

    Sitting in third place is Ford Philippines with 16,817 units (6.33-percent) while the local arms of the Nissan and Suzuki are in fourth and fifth positions with 15,819 units (5.96 percent) and 11,499 units (4.33 percent), respectively.
