Car Comparison Mitsubishi Mirage vs Hyundai Eon
Do you ever get tired of the worsening traffic jams and the ever-growing fuel prices? Well, you’re not alone, that’s why many car buyers are drawn into the allure of the compact car.
Small vehicles like the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Hyundai Eon are just two of the most popular compact cars in the local automotive industry, and unless you’ve been born with a silver spoon in your mouth, it’s hard to walk out of the dealership with a brand-new car of your choice.
That said, driving home a compact car isn't too bad. They're small, fuel-efficient, and easy to drive. They hardly have all the bells and whistles but they sure can get the job done. On one hand, the Hyundai Eon offers stellar affordability while the Mitsubishi Mirage presents prospective car buyers with value for their money.
While pitting the Hyundai Eon against the Mitsubishi Mirage isn’t exactly a clash between two titans, knowing what both vehicles have to offer makes all the difference, especially if you’re eyeing either as your first car.
Dimensions
Between our compact contenders, the Mitsubishi Mirage offers a larger frame in terms of both length and width. This gives the Mitsubishi Mirage the advantage when it comes to trunk space and cabin room. The trunk of the Mitsubishi Mirage has enough room for your weekly payload of groceries and laundry which is key especially if you’re someone living in the Metro.
On the other hand, the Hyundai Eon has the advantage over the Mitsubishi Mirage when it comes to ground clearance making it the better car to handle potholes and speed humps.
Exterior
The South Korean car manufacturer outfitted the Hyundai Eon with curvy features which gave this compact hatchback a seemingly cordial appearance. Its exterior layout makes it look snappy and smart making it perfect for short city rides commuting to and from places within town. It sports the iconic hexagonal grille in black and chrome plus a slew of other features like a micro antenna, body-tone door handles and side mirrors, and a rear spoiler with a high mount stop lamp.
The Mitsubishi Mirage offers more aggressive looks with angled and sharp lines. However, like the Hyundai Eon, its door handles and side mirrors match the color of the body of the vehicle and its grille is also a mixture of black and chrome finish. It does, nevertheless, offer stylish and functional features like a subtle welcome light and coming home lights that stay on for 60 seconds even after shutting the engine off.
Interior
Inside the Hyundai Eon, you’ll find a slew of amenities centered around convenience. These include welcoming lights in the center cluster, open storage trays in the center fascia, and a decent 1-DIN audio system that offers AM/FM Tuner, CD, MP3 and Aux-in support with speakers that are located in front. Oh, and it’s got power windows up in front.
The five-door compact hatchback from the land of the rising sun, on the other hand, offers a sporty white-lit semi-high contrast instrument panel, a 7-inch capacitive discharge touchscreen panel with a single in-dash tuner with auxiliary-in, USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity. The whole infotainment system is also DVD and MP3—iPod-ready.
Engine
While both stick-shift variants are married to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Mitsubishi Mirage gains the upper hand against the Hyundai Eon in engine performance having had its lineage from Mitsubishi’s MIVEC engine family. It boasts 78 horses and 100Nm of torque giving it a slightly significant edge against the Hyundai Eon’s 3 Cylinder In-line DOHC engine.
Safety
The Mitsubishi Mirage offers the standard suite of seatbelts plus SRS airbags, an emergency stop signal, and a brake override system (BOS).
On the other hand, the Hyundai Eon comes with a child safety lock system, high mount stop lamps, and side impact bars> its lack of airbags it makes up for a reinforced body to help counter the force of an impact.

Conclusion
The Hyundai Eon is an affordable car, it allows you to ream around town with a fuel-efficient and a cost-saving compact vehicle but its lack of standard safety features can be a concern for others.
On the other hand, the Mitsubishi Mirage may be a tad higher in terms of its initial costs but it offers the basic loadout for safety and has a capable engine to match.
