Car museum for Toyota models to open in La Union soon

A car museum will soon be opened to the public that will showcase nearly all the iconic nameplates under the Toyota brand.

The newly-inaugurated R Garage is a more-than-2,000-square-meter facility that houses models under the Japanese marque built during the 1960s to the present. Founded by father-and-son tandem Rene and Richmond Glen So (General Manager and Owner of Toyota La Union), the car museum is situated within the R Hub facility where the Toyota La Union can be found. To note, the R Hub covers 24,000 square meters of land.

The R Garage is expected to showcase numerous Toyota models— Toyota Sports 800, Celica, Starlet, Sprinter, Trueno and Land Cruiser, among others — since the car museum reportedly has the capacity to showcase some 50 units in the display area.

" I was never interested in cars growing up, but when I was asked by my father to lead our Toyota dealership in La Union, I learned to appreciate and love cars, particularly Toyota. This passion grew stronger and stronger as years went by. There are many other great cars built by different brands but for me, I will only own Toyota cars,” R Garage General Manager Richmond Glen So said.

Gracing the ribbon cutting ceremony are Bauang, La Union Mayor Martin De Guzman; La Union Vice Governor Mario Ortega, Toyota Motor Philippines President Akihiro Okamoto.

The establishment would help older gearheads to pass on the passion to their children and, in turn, cultivate their own desire for vehicles upon visiting the establishment as the R Garage is set to have kid-friendly interactive activities.
