Casio and Honda Racing collaborate for latest Edifice model
Watchmaker Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the release of its latest product under the Edifice line in partnership with Honda Racing.
The newest fruit of its collaboration is the ECB-S100HR Honda Racing Championship White Edition. Based on the brand concept of “Speed and Intelligence,” the ECB-S100HR pays homage to the brand’s history and achievements in Formula One by drawing its design inspiration from the Honda RA271.
“Back in 1964, the RA271 was the first entry by a Japanese automaker in an F1 race, with its white body and red rising sun. This body color, dubbed Championship White, became a symbol of Honda’s racing spirit,” Casio noted in its statement.
The ECB-S100HR sports an authentic Championship White paint on the outer ring of its dial, and its inset dial and buttons are accented with red. The margin of the glass wears a checkered flag pattern, which the watchmaker stated, is “a nod to Honda’s many victories.”
The genuine leather band on the ECB-S100HR features a two-tone color scheme, with the outer side covered in white and the underside in red.
Further, it has useful features such as the Tough Solar power system, which efficiently converts light to power the watch, Bluetooth connectivity, and a high-luminosity double LED light. This recently released timepiece can be paired with a smartphone using a dedicated app to automatically adjust to the correct time and enable the user to select from any of over 300 cities for the world time.
Moreover, the Casio ECB-S100HR offers a Time and Place function that records the current date and time as well as position on a map within the app by just pressing a button on the watch, “allowing users to check where they were and when”. “The inset dial indicator at the nine o’clock position counts down to the alarm or target time, starting from 30 minutes in advance,” the company noted.
To note, the partnership with Honda Racing and Edifice started in 2018 “from a shared dedication to leveraging high-tech capabilities in their global pursuits.”
