    “Today's inauguration by President Duterte and other top government and private sector officials is closed to the public. Tomorrow, April 28, we will be holding other events as part of the opening of the CCLEX and it will still be closed to the public,” CCLEX posted last April 27.

    As of noontime today, the social media page has not posted any announcement  on when can the public use it.

    The latest iconic bridge that connects mainland Cebu in Cebu City to Mactan Island through Cordova features crosses on top of the twin pylons of the cable-stayed main bridge over the Mactan Channel.

    Aside from the country’s chief executive, the event was also graced by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) Chairman Manny Pangilinan, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Public Works and Highways Secretary Roger Mercado, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez.

    “We are happy to have been involved in building this piece of magnificent infrastructure for our countrymen in Cebu,” Pangilinan said. “It will bring in more investments, stimulate trade and commerce, revitalize tourism, and give a collective sense of pride among its people.”

    Around 50,000 motorists are expected to utilize the road once opened to the public.

    MPTC’s first toll road project outside Luzon, the CCLEX has a design speed of 60-80kph, and a navigational clearance of 52 meters. It will utilize an all-electronic toll collection system starting June 2022 but will accept cash payments in the meantime.
