The leadership of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that two of the major segment which is part of the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) Project Phase 1 has been completed.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the construction of the 4.1-kilometer (km) contract package (CP) 1-Tarlac Section and 6.4-km CP 2-Rio Chico River Bridge Section are now 100 percent finished.

This newly-completed roadwork is part of the 30-km, four lane expressway project to connect Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City.

Back in May last year, Villar said that the CP 1 is at 97-percent complete.

According to DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Undersecretary Emil Sadain, the CP 1 also comprises the construction of 300-meter temporary off and on-ramp exit in La Paz- Victoria Road while CP 2 covers the construction of 1.5-km Rio Chico River viaduct, 42-meter Sta. Lucia River Bridge and the 38-meter La Paz-Victoria underpass bridge.

CLLEX

Sadain reported that based on his recent inspection in Nueva Ecija, two remaining contract packages will be delivered to full completion come April next year.

These are the 9.2-km CP-3 (Aliaga section), which includes the 42-meter Guimba-Aliaga underpass bridge and Aliaga interchange (now 77 percent complete) and the 10.3-km CP-4 (Cabanatuan Section) which also covers Cabanatuan and San Juan interchanges (currently at 84 percent completion).

The department also said that an additional 4.8-km component of the expressway project from the junction of Carmen-Cabanatuan Road is the Zaragoza Interchange section. This part is composed of the of the 2.8-km access free road and 2-km interchange ramp that will cross over the embankment of CLLEX main expressway.

Upon completion of the entire alignment, CLLEX Phase 1 will cut travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from more than an hour (70 minutes) to less than 30 minutes (20 minutes). Aside from that, around 11,200 motorists and commuters everyday are expected to benefit in this project, which would also ease traffic at Daang Maharlika Highway by about 48 percent.
