Duterte to Give Smuggled Hummers to Police, Military
President Rodrigo Duterte supervised the destruction of smuggled vehicles in Port Irene in Cagayan earlier this week. The illegally-imported vehicles includes 68 luxury cars amounting to almost PHP280 million.
However, Duterte spared over 10 Hummers and luxury vans during the said destruction. Duterte told Cagayan Economic Zone Authority Administrator Raul Lambino to reserve and give the smuggled Hummers to the police and the military for their use. The luxury vans, on the other hand, will be given to the local government of Cagayan.
The exact number of spared Hummers and luxury vans were not disclosed. Moreover, the government has not released any information--as of this writing--as to what luxury vans were given to the local government of Cagayan.
The destruction of smuggled vehicles in Cagayan is the third time that Duterte had personally overseen. The first one happened in February in the ports of Manila, Cebu, and Davao. The second one happened in June in Manila and Cebu.
