Ford PH Expands Ranger Lineup with Ranger XLS Sport

Ford Philippines is expanding its Ranger lineup in the Philippines with the launch of the new Ranger XLS Sport.

Available in Ford dealerships starting June 21, the Ranger XLS Sport is an upgraded version of the Ranger XLS variant, featuring design enhancements that make it more striking and easy to notice while on the road.

The Ranger XLS Sport has upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels and sports a glossy black-painted rear bumper and front grille. Its sides have been fitted with step boards for ease of entry.

The Ranger XLS Sport remains to be powered by the proven 2.2-liter TDCi engine which generates 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque. It is accompanied by a six-speed manual transmission for a smooth and more enjoyable drive across diverse road conditions.

It is also equipped with Driver-Assist Technologies such as Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Cruise Control, Front Driver and Passenger Airbags and ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors, ensuring maximum safety and comfort in every drive. It is also powered by SYNC, Ford’s hands-free infotainment system, allowing ease of access to the Ranger’s entertainment system and connected mobile devices through simple voice commands.

The Ranger XLS Sport initially comes in two variants: the Ranger XLS Sport 4×4 MT priced at PHP1.211 million and the Ranger XLS Sport 4×2 MT priced at PHP1.062 million. It will be available in five colors, including Arctic White, Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, and True Red.

“The new Ranger XLS Sport is definitely a welcome addition to our already extensive Ranger lineup in the country, catering to customers with more utilitarian needs. It remains one of the most powerful and performance-bred pickup trucks in the market today with a more striking and recognizable exterior while still retaining the same Built Ford Tough features that our customers have grown to love,” shares Ryan Lorenzo, AVP, Marketing, Ford Philippines.

First quarter retail sales for the Ford Ranger rose 25 percent from the same quarter a year ago to 3,142 vehicles, including March sales increasing 21 percent to 1,137 vehicles. Ford launched the new Ranger lineup in the country last year, which consists of nine different variants, including the first-ever Ranger Raptor, the popular high-series Wildtrak, mid-grade XLT, and more utilitarian XLS variants.
