NLEX Corp. to complete SCTEX toll system upgrades this year

    NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista said that the enhancements are part of the company’s goal to serve motorists more efficiently.

    “We always ensure that we continually upgrade our system and equipment to deliver convenient and reliable service to our motorists,” he said.

    SCTEX Tipo toll lanes

    The NLEX Corporation also said that it will exchange the 46 old equipment in the 33 toll lanes along SCTEX for new ones.

    To ensure accurate and faster transactions, the following components will be upgraded: 10 loop detectors and eight TCG in Clark South A, Tipo, and Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX), as well as eight AVC devices in Clark North A (Dolores), San Miguel, Dinalupihan, Floridablanca, and Tipo.

    The NLEX Corporation shall replace 10 toll fare indicators in SFEX, Tipo, Clark South A and Tarlac, and 10 lane status indicators in Clark South B, Tarlac, and SFEX. To note, the tollway firm already replaced 76 units of the abovementioned apparatus last year, which covers 39 lanes of the entire expressway system.

    Further, the RFID lanes in SCTEX have been equipped and upgraded with an early detection feature, and contactless card readers since 2020. The ALPR’s initial implementation was also done in the Tarlac toll plaza.

    Relatedly, the NLEX Corporation is also conducting infrastructure improvements along SCTEX such as the annual pavement repair program, the ongoing repair and strengthening of Pasig Potrero Bridge and the road-raising project at Dinalupihan.

    Since the start of the month, the company jacked up the toll rates for SCTEX by P0.78 per kilometer..
