NLEX-SCTEX roadworks to start this Feb.

The annual pavement repair program for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) up to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) is set to start in February.

In a statement, the NLEX Corporation said that the roadworks for 2022 will cover 79,063 square meters of the NLEX and 18,718 square meters of the SCTEX as part of the company’s bid to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience for toll road users.

The toll operator said that the several stretches from Balintawak to Sta. Ines and Tarlac to Tipo will be replaced in sections and overlaid with new layers of asphalt. The less damaged parts, the company added, will undergo patching.

NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista assured that the maintenance work will result in smooth driving and enhanced safety on the road.

“Safety and convenience must go hand in hand in order to maintain a high level of customer experience. While we have frequent road inspections and repairs, this yearly program is more comprehensive and will vastly improve the quality of our roads for the benefit of thousands of motorists plying our expressways every day,” Bautista was quoted as saying.

He also assured that the company will follow the ISO standards and fulfill its “quality, health and safety, and environmental responsibilities.”

Further, NLEX Corporation said that the repair program — to be undertaken with traffic and lane management measures — is targeted to be completed by the second quarter of 2022.

Aside from the road repairs, the company is currently upgrading the Candaba Viaduct, San Matias Bridge, and Pasig-Potrero Bridge and constructing the eight-kilometer NLEX Connector.
