Launched in 2018, the Nissan Terra might be late to the midsize SUV party, but it brought with it fresh features to make up for lost time.
Among these toys is Nissan's Intelligent Mobility Suite (NIM), available in the Terra's higher trim levels. NIM carries Intelligent Around-View Monitor, Intelligent Rearview Mirror, lane departure warning, and blind spot warning—all of which aim to make every journey as safe as possible.
The Terra is powered by a 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine, which may be slightly smaller in displacement against the competition, but churns out a decent 187hp and 450Nm of torque. A manual with six speeds, and an automatic with seven, are the transmission choices.
Prices for the Terra range from P1.539 to P2.211 million across its five variants, comprised of two EL, one VE, and two VL grades. Considering its prices and how competitive the segment is, surely the Terra has a wealth of attractive interior features.
All Terra trims welcome front occupants with so-called Zero Gravity seats. "Inspired by the weightless posture of astronauts in space, Nissan engineers designed front seats that provide generous support and may help reduce fatigue," is how the Japanese carmaker described those perches.
Another feature found in the seats is the one-touch folding for the second row. A button in the cargo area folds down the middle row, so there's no need to walk to the side of the vehicle and do the folding manually.
EL varieties get a 6.75-inch touchscreen audio display; VE and VL ones use an eight-inch infotainment with the phone mirroring functions for Apple and Android phones, as well as built-in navigation. Six speakers are used across the range.
A Terra VL-exclusive feature is an 11-inch entertainment system mounted on the cabin's ceiling. Dual zone automatic climate is unique to the top-spec Terra, while rear aircon vents provide the brand's famous wintry cooling.
There are a total of six airbags inside the Terra — four at the front and two curtain airbags running the whole length of the cabin. The good news is that these safety cushions are standard across the lineup.
